Candor Collective helps behavioral health clinicians start, run, and grow private practices that actually work. I handle the parts of private practice nobody teaches you in grad school: billing, credentialing, payer enrollment, and the business setup that holds it all together. Whether you are opening your first solo practice or running an established group that needs its claims and credentialing cleaned up, I meet you where you are (and my pricing scales to match, because a solo practitioner and a 20-provider group don't run on the same margin). I'm based in the Lake Norman area and specialize in North Carolina practices, and I'm happy to work with clinicians nationwide.
I'm a licensed clinical mental health counselor associate (LCMHCA), a former practice manager, and, before all of that, an elementary special education teacher. I spent years handling billing, credentialing, and payer contracting for a multi-clinician behavioral health group, so I know what it's like on both sides of the office.
Teaching taught me how to break complicated things down so people actually understand them. That's how I work with practices now: I'll take the paperwork off your plate, or I'll teach your team to handle it with confidence, whichever fits you best.
For practices with an existing biller who's stuck on a specific issue. I review your reports, denials, and claims data, then give you a written summary of what I found and what to do next. Book me hourly or for a focused 90-minute deep-dive session.
Full, ongoing billing management: claims submission, eligibility checks, denial follow-up, and clear monthly reporting. You pay a flat monthly fee and never a percentage of your collections.
Get your practice and providers enrolled with new payers, or hand me a credentialing mess from a prior vendor and I'll audit, correct, and get it current. Ongoing maintenance (re-credentialing, CAQH attestations, expirable tracking) is covered under a simple monthly retainer once your enrollments are clean.
Opening a private practice (or trying to tidy up the one you have)? I walk you through it step by step: forming your PLLC, getting your NPI and EIN, choosing an EHR, deciding between private pay and insurance, setting your fees, and building the policies, intake paperwork, and systems that keep things running. I also help established practices with the management side, including workflows, hiring, and growth planning, so you can spend more of your time on clinical work. New to all of this? Start with my free North Carolina start-up checklist.
HIPAA-minded from day one: I sign a Business Associate Agreement (BAA) with every practice before any client information changes hands
Flat, transparent fees (never a cut of your collections)
Pricing scaled to your practice size, whether you're solo or a growing group
No long-term lock-in beyond a 3-month minimum on retainers
Advisory, hands-on, or audit-and-fix, so you pick the level of support you need
Run by a working clinician and former practice manager who knows both sides of the office
Deep North Carolina payer experience, with support available nationwide
Every quote is based on your practice size (the number of billing clinicians), and nothing is ever a percentage of your collections. Here's where solo practices start:
Consulting and diagnostic support: $95 per hour, or $160 for a focused 90-minute session with written findings
Billing management: $300 per month, flat (3-month minimum)
Credentialing: $250 per payer, per clinician, for initial enrollment (re-credentialing runs about 40% less)
Group practices get per-provider rates that step down as you grow. I'm happy to walk you through the full rate guide on your free intro call.
What happens on the free intro call?
It's 15 minutes, just a conversation. You tell me what's going on in your practice, I ask a few questions, and we figure out together whether I'm the right fit. There's no pressure and no sales pitch.
How long does credentialing take?
For most commercial payers, plan on about 90 to 120 days from submission to an active effective date, and sometimes longer. That's why I recommend starting credentialing well before you open your doors (or give notice at a group practice).
Do you take a percentage of my collections?
Never. Every service is a flat fee, so my pay doesn't change based on how much you collect, and you always know what you're paying.
Am I locked into a long contract?
No. Monthly retainers have a 3-month minimum so we have time to get things running smoothly. Consulting and credentialing are one-time fees.
I already have a biller. Can you still help?
Yes. I can dig into a specific problem (like a pile of denials), or train and support your in-house person so they feel confident in the role and the knowledge stays in your practice.
Do you only work with North Carolina practices?
North Carolina is my specialty, and I know its payers well, but I'm happy to work with behavioral health practices anywhere in the country.
How do you protect my clients' information?
We sign a Business Associate Agreement (BAA) before I ever see protected health information, and I only access what I need to do the work. Please don't email client details before we've set that up.
